QUALITY ASSURANCE
The Quality Assurance Program is designed to measure the efforts of the facility in achieving its goal of a provision of service that consistently meets or exceeds the facility’s mission, professional standards and customer expectations.
The purpose of the program is to ensure a provision of resident care. Through identification of customer expectations and continued monitoring the development and implementation of plans of action are completed. This is vital to the improvement of quality services.
There is a Quality Assurance Core committee held at Long View Nursing Home which has the responsibility to implement the program. Meetings are held monthly. The committee uses a variety of resources to monitor and evaluate quality, such as direct care observations, chart reviews, occurrence reports, committee reports, complaints/concerns from families, residents, or staff, and other sources are used to make decisions about quality of care.
As statement by the Joint Commission on Accreditations of Health Care Organization reads: “The degree to which patient/resident care services increase the probability of desired patient/resident outcomes and reduce the probability of undesired outcomes, given the current state of knowledge.”
Overall, the Quality Assurance Program helps the facility to maintain and improve the quality of care of the facility through a comprehensive process. Identified sources of information are then involved in an investigation process including:
1. Verification of Accuracy
2. Data Collection
3. Data Analysis
4. Problem Identification
5. Plan Development
6. Re-evaluation after Plan Implementation
