OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY: Occupational Therapy helps residents return to their optimal level of independence in activities of daily living.  Functional skills are taught such as self-feeding, bathing, dressing, toileting, and homemaking.

SPEECH THERAPY: The Speech Language Pathologist treats residents with speech, language, swallowing, and hearing impairments.  The resident’s ability to communicate and swallow are two functional skills that may improve with speech therapy.

FUNCTIONAL MAINTENANCE PROGRAM

This program is provided by Long View Nursing Home staff nurses.  There is no extra cost for this service; it is included in the 24 hour care provided at the facility.

The functional Maintenance program at Long View capitalizes on a residents’ strength while maintaining the dignity of the resident.

The goal is to increase and/or maintain the resident’s strength, mobility, eating, and self-grooming skills.  By focusing and building on these strengths, the resident is then generating a more positive outlook as well as enhancing self-esteem.

Long View chooses to see possibilities and the potential of each individual rather than focusing on the limitations of age and diagnosis.
